English 2 General Information
English 2 is a required class for all high school students in North Carolina. At the end of this course, there is an EOC given by the state that will count as the final exam grade (25% of the final grade for the course). This exam will measure student mastery of the skills laid out in the Common Core State Standards for 10th grade students in English 2 in reading literature and informational texts, as well as grammar and writing. There are also standards that assess students speaking and listening abilities.
The focus of English 2 is on World Literature. This includes Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Central and South America. We will be traveling the world in our classroom. Students should expect exposure to different cultural viewpoints throughout this course.
