Why or why not?
Do: Write your speech! Remember, you are writing to the UN. Do you think that they should have been more involved in the conflict in Rwanda? Why? Explain your answer using specific examples from the film. Then, you need to tell them what YOU think they should do in the future if there is a similar situation. Your speech should be at least 1 minute. Practice it. Do: Today and tomorrow we will be watching Hotel Rwanda. You need to take notes on the film for the following purpose: On Friday, you will be writing and recording a speech to the United Nations about whether or not they should have sent in aid to Rwanda. You will be using evidence from the film. Your speech must be at least a minute long, contain at least 3 specific examples from the film, and give a plan for what you feel should be their action in the future (addressing problems that you feel they had in Rwanda). I am NOT giving you specific questions. You need to write down what you think is important. The better your notes are, the better your speech will be. Then, distribute the points given to you among your group (if you had 4 members, you have 13 points; if you had 5 members, you have 16 points; if your group was a different size, ask me before giving out points). You may divide up points as you see fit among your group. If everyone did equal work, everyone gets 3 points EXCEPT for the one person that went above and beyond for the group. That person should get the extra point. You need to explain why each person deserves that number of points.
